When we were young, we were always worried about what others thought. We sometimes did things because of peer pressure. I jumped off a cliff into a sink hole at night with some friends and I survived. I was frightened to death but I did not tell them I was scared.
The Bible encourages us to make God's opinion the one that counts. He is the one that we want to respond to us because His opinion counts the most to us. When you seek to please God, there is no peer pressure strong enough to cause you to waver. It is much easier to overcome peer pressure if God opinion is what I desire most.
On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 NIV
